The Napa Valley's Stags Leap District, is home to the highest quality and most recognized Cabernet Sauvignon in the world. To grow quality cabernet sauvignon grapes, the growing conditions must be unique to produce high quality fruit. The Stags Leap District's warm days, and rocky soil conditions, cause the fruit to struggle while ripening. The cool nights balance the acidity, creating a high quality intense fruit. The silky, rich and concentrated flavors of the Stags Leap District fruit, has made this growing appellation famous for producing world class Cabernet Sauvignons.
JR Wagner's focus will be to produce a Reserve quality Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon, yet will continue to venture out into other varietals such as the 2002 Napa Valley, Los Carneros Merlot.
