Soon after the death of his mother in 1895, my Grandfather, James Rudolph Wagner, became a full time resident of the St. Vincent's School for Boys Orphanage, in San Rafael, CA. One year later in 1896, when his older brother, Daniel, was emancipated to begin working with local farmers, James also left. As the story's been told, James ran away and never returned. Twenty-four years later, as James began to start his own family; he began a legacy that would last for many generations. He named his one and only son, James Russell Wagner. Since then, every male born into the Wagner family has the initials JRW. As James Rudolph began his adult life, alone at nine years old, his name and legacy lives on. Today, there are three living generations of JR Wagners. What James Rudolph bequeathed was not millions of dollars of inheritance or hundreds of acres of rich California land. He left something perhaps even more valuable and durable... his name. A new generation has been born, with JR Wagner Family wine.
